We had an early Thanksgiving with the Engebretson clan this year on the Nov 16. About a week ago, Logan brought the following story home from school that he had written about his weekend in Thornton. I'll type it word for word so remember that you'll need to sound out some of the words since he's in first grade. :-) Enjoy!
Logan's Story 11/17/08
I went to my grandmas house. It is a very long drive. It is an hour and a half. We stade overnight. I woke up then we went to my graet grandpas house. Me and my cousins went out side and we plaed cick the can and it wus fun. After we got cold some of us went in to the barn and some of us went inside. I went to the barn but the people that went inside were luky cus in the barn there wus a dead deer and you cood see the inside of its leg and the dog chood on its knee and I think it chood off his knee and the deers eye fell out and then we got the uther kids to see the deer and then we left. We watched TV on the way home and when we got home we had supur.

Oh what a wonderful and descriptive story. I am impressed with his spelling. I could read through the whole thing thanks to my practice at checking 2nd grade papers not too many years ago. The eyeball...went to get the uthers...my favorite parts.
