Ramblings

It's been too long since I've updated this blog. So, a few ramblings about what's been going on with us the last month or two.

Cale turned 6 at the beginning of December setting of a month of birthday celebrations for us. Cale on the 8th, Cory on the 17th, Jesus on the 25th, and me on the 27th. Thankfully, I only have to make a cake for one of those ~ Cory requests pie on his birthday :-)

We had a fabulous Christmas. Lots of family time. We spent a couple of days over Christmas break in Minneapolis having a blast with Cory's brother's family. We went to the Mall of America and IKEA and just hung out sharing great conversation and watching the cousins have so much fun together.

We've spent many a Saturday since Christmas at wrestling tournaments. Logan started off slow this year getting 3rd and 4th at his first two tourneys, but has really stepped it up since and is finishing the season strong. He's gotten a couple of first place trophies, a second place, and another 3rd since those first two meets. I've really started to enjoy wrestling as I'm finally beginning to understand the moves and can tell what's actually happening. Logan loves it and it's so great to watch he and Cory down on the mat together.

In January, we found out that both Luke and Elyse had failed the eye screening that was done at preschool in December with the same issue indicated that Cale wears glasses for. No huge surprise because they hadn't done so well with the eye chart at the dr's office either. So, we scheduled them for eye exams. Luke was first. His vision was slightly worse in one eye, but at this point is nothing he needs correction for. He was quite disappointed to be leaving WITHOUT glasses. He'll go back in a year for a re-check. Then, it was Elyse's turn. I knew without a doubt that if we'd dodged the bullet with Luke, there would be NO WAY that we would with Elyse. Life just doesn't work that way. :-) Sure enough, Elyse needed glasses. We picked out the cutest pair of pinky-purple frames for her. She's had them about two weeks. She's actually done quite well. It's been an adjustment for her with her new vision and forcing her left eye to work again. The biggest problem is that when she takes them off, she just puts them on the floor where ever she is. We bought her a beautiful pink beaded librarian's chain to use with them that works well when we're out or she's at preschool. Let's all just hope that she doesn't break Cale's record of 8 pair in a year!

Yesterday was Luke and Elyse's Valentine's Day party at preschool. I got to go, too! They had a lot of fun. In addition to passing out and getting lots of Valentine's, they got to dress up like Kings and Queens.

Last weekend, I got a crazy bug and decided to rearrange Elyse's room and clean out her and Luke's closets. One of the things that that involved was taking all the ISU clothes that they've outgrown off the top shelf in Luke's closet down to be put in the storage tote for when my nephew Brandon and his wife Christine decide to have a baby. The clothes made it out of the closet, but not into the tote. They are on the floor in my bedroom. This morning Luke and Elyse have been busy rummaging through them trying to convince me that some of the things still fit them. Right now, Luke is wearing an outfit that is a 2T that appears to still fit him pretty well. The shirt underneath is quite another story as it's a 18-24 month!

Guess that's about all that I can think of right now. I'm hopeful that I'll be updating this more often in the future! Have a great weekend, everyone.
