March Mishaps

During March, our family had a couple of mishaps. The first was just after Spring Break when we were all at the park a few blocks from our house. We were all playing tag and Cory was 'it'. He claims he wasn't trying to tag me, but I saw him move to come after me and when I stepped down one step on the play equipment, I twisted my ankle - worse than I've ever twisted it before. I thought it must be broken based on the disgusting sound that it made and the excruciating pain that I was in. I knew there was NO way I was going to be able to walk home so Cory (who will forever be my knight in shining armor) rode Logan's bike (instead of his horse) home to get the van while I stewed about the horrible timing of this ankle injury. After returning with the van, Cory gave me a piggy back ride to the van with only one snide remark about my weight! :-) So, I spent the better part of that week in the recliner with my ankle on ice, propped up.

From this incident I realized that I am not a very good patient. I don't like to be 'slowed down'. I did get A LOT of extra snuggle time in with my kiddos. It also didn't take me long to realize which of the four has the kindest, most caring heart. Guess who??

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that it was Cale!

The other March mishap happened to Logan. One evening, he, Cale, and the neighbor boy were playing outside in the rain when Logan came in crying and spitting blood. He left a trail of blood from the front door to the table. In the midst of the spitting blood out came part of a tooth! Unfortunately, it was one of his bottom front PERMANENT teeth! When he'd finally calmed down and I could make out what he was telling me, this was the story: He had taken his shirt off and was playing in the rain. Jack took his jacket off and swung it at Logan hitting Logan in the mouth with the zipper, chipping his tooth and cutting his lip. It broke off about half of his tooth at a jagged angle. We have a great dentist and she was able to put a filling on the top of it so you can't even tell that it's not the original tooth.
